Yes this week finally saw the rain bestowed us and leave us home and dry at home watching soccer rather than playing the real thing. Finally after a series of matches we will finally have our break for CNY (which i like to wish everyone Happy Chinese New Year!).
As i have said before in my previous post we are now only down with 5 games to play and looking at the table with everyone neck and neck in the face it would be a 6pointer game whenever we played. If we lose one game from now on it would actually mean the hope of us challenging for anything this season. Thus, what i'm saying is right now is the period that everyone have to be in good condition and be ready for the games to come. It is not going to be easy but neither is it too hard to achieve. Last season we had only lost 3 games and this put us in the same situation. What i feel that in this league there is not a team too strong that we can't win so, lets just push hard and we shall achieve!
But now, i hope you guys can catch a good break! (with this weather who can't) Get ready for the upcoming weekends and we will show them what Team Goat is all about! Meanwhile, wish all the folks a Happy Chinese New Year and Gong Xi Fa Cai!

Weather Forecast for 29 Jan 11
Weatherman is on leave! (or at least he wishes...)
Jokes aside, it seems like an unpredictable day that really depends on our luck level today.
For sure it would be cloudy today (I am glad as last weekend game was really baking hot!). Showers and heavy rain is also a high possibility.
Just hope that we merely gets a few drops!
See you later!

Breaking News!
With the transfer market coming to a close soon, Team Goat has made a sensational swoop into the market by bringing an ex-Victorian defensive midfielder. Tang JinRong into the team.(Yes he our vice-cap's elder brother). The news just came in today when he gave the nod to help the team out in this coming saturday's game.
Many questions have been asked as to why Team Goat would still bring in a midfielder at this point of time when there is quite a no. of players who can play in that position. But team's president Jeff have this to say, "Yes, we may have a no. of players who can play in that position but what we are looking for is actually a more experience player who can lead and help the youngster on the field just like our previous loan-ee Keng Yang did.'
Let's welcome him to the team this coming Saturday as he will definitely be a great addition to the team.

Thank You
What do you see from this picture? And who do you think this Thank You is targeted to?
Well this thank you post is for our friendly DRIVERS.
If you have hitched a ride before from our friendly drivers have you thank them?
They have definitely help the team a lot by sending players to and from matches with no grudes over how much time they waste and how much money they have spent on patrol.
They have not ask for anything in return.
They have not ask for anything in return.
Therefore i'm taking this opportunity to say a big thank you to the drivers!
THANK YOU!
Please send me to yishun? HAHAHA

Appreciation from the old man
At first I was deliberating within myself if I should write such "emo stuff" on our blog especially since we are in such an intense period of the season. After reading our goalie-cum-president's post, however, I felt I should do something being the most senior around.
Some of you maybe aware and very surprise why I am willing to sponsor yiwen for his latest boots. Firstly, if you were never told, he has been my best friend since 1998 and we have went thru tonnes. Although we went a little distanced since JC and subsequently when I left for London, I really treasure this brother of mine. Secondly, I am very thankful for him to bring me into this team where I have thoroughly enjoyed myself since the first game we have played together (Damai Sec)! Yiwen and I was bonded through football and the joy of the game had eluded me since I left secondary school. In this team, I rediscovered my joy and passion for playing football again because of all of you around me. To be honest with you, some of the weekends I come to the game exhausted with a week loaded with work and stress. Seeing you guys and to share a wonderful saturday afternoon is a privilege whether I do get match time or not.
By coming every weekend we get to play football with laughter and love for the game is evident in most cases and believe it or not, I found great joy in seeing everyone beaming from face to face. Nonetheless, I do feel for our management as well as we are really in a position to challenge for the title and some over-emphasis of nicking a win is inevitable. However, we are amateur after all and some of the guys are so young that they need our patience and guidance not particularly in technique but more psychologically.
I can proudly say that although we are not professional, each of us to give our 110% when we are on the pitch fighting for each other. For that, each of you deserve my respect and I salute you for that. Having said that, we all do make mistakes sometimes and we have to stick together even more during these times because we play as a team, in victory or defeat.
Football is just like life. We win some, we lose some. More importantly we have to grow up through these and when you look back in time to come, these are the moments of life that you will savour (yes, I know I am getting old). So let us go through this crunch time, and more time to come, together as Team G.O.A.T. - with sweat, blood, laughter and disappointment.
I am proud to be your teammate and a brother to everyone of you. Yes, all of you.
Till I hear your laughter and see your smiles again this saturday, my most sincere gratitude to everyone of you. A big thank you. =)

The Race is On!
Opp: Zespol FC
Attire: Red
K.O: 3pm (Try to hop onto a car!)
Venue: Ahmad Ibrahim Secondary School
(http://maps.google.com.sg/maps?hl=en&xhr=t&cp=4&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=ahmad+ibrahim+secondary+school&fb=1&gl=sg&hq=ahmad+ibrahim+secondary+school&hnear=Singapore&cid=0,0,10929961880760349187&ei=y0o8TfzyDdHwrQec1L2nCA&sa=X&oi=local_result&ct=image&resnum=2&sqi=2&ved=0CB4QnwIwAQ)
Looking at the table (http://d2dsports.footballopod.com/D2D_LeagueTable.aspx?id=60&leagueid=43&divid=75) what do you guys see? I see a team who only play 5 games and have huge potential in overtaking EVERYONE in the league to win the trophy! But lets put it this way, in this division everyone is strong and good so i would not say there is going to be an easy game for each of us so i wont expect an easy breeze for Thunderveluboomqiesi. That being said, there wont be any easy game for us as well. We will be facing the former Champion Zespol FC this weekend and if you guys were there you should well remember the 4-1 thrashing we received from them not too long ago. Blame it on me, blame it on the defenders or on the grass we were definitely well-beaten as the scoreline does not lie.
Continue with the topic of the league table, now with all top 4 teams have played an equal 9 games each and all are well balance in the league. A win against each other will shift the teams up and down the table. With this, if we were to win Zespol this coming sat we will be making our way to the top provided if tour d'france draw or lost their game to Swee Swee 1 FC. But no matter the result i would wish everyone to put in their 100% effort to this weekend game and keep the race alive! And please! those who have gone missing or is ill and injured please try to come back or recover fast! The team needs everyone. Without you guys there wont be Team Goat. Each and everyone of you forms the team. No You No Team!

A note from your lousy ass-shit goalkeeper (i'm writing this as a goalkeeper no longer as the president):
To those who don't know, i'm in between the sticks because there is no one in the team wants to be there and unfortunately sourcing for 4 years we can't find anyone who is good enough to be there. To be honest and blunt, i'm the one and only the team have got. I can't play outfield due to my lousy ball skills and my clumsy running. All i have is this little bit of ball sense which can let me catch some balls to contribute to the team.
I'm not a natural goalie but i'm willing to learn, tell me whats wrong and i'll try to improve. Ask Ariel how i tried out his goal kick methods, ask Yiwen how i listen to him not to get lobbed and how to catch a ball. But please don't disrespect me and tell me what should be done! If you think you're better and know what to do, be in between the sticks! You never know how a goalie feels until you are one or experience it yourself! I laughed at goalies before and i regretted!
I'm a 1st generation Goatie, i love and breathe football. Team Goat is actually my everything i devote a lot of time to this team and every time i let in a goal it really hurts me a lot. I do admit sometimes i really never did my best to save some of the goals because i know i could have dive or what. But its just not what i do best! Yesterday's 4 goals really killed me as i know that those balls could be saved but I'm just not good enough a goalie to saved it.. I have never lacked so much morale and confidence after a game.
What i'm trying to say is, i will do my best in every game that is to come. Confidence or no confidence i will be there kicking for the team and trying to save what opp is shooting at me. But please do not get over my head. I just want to enjoy my soccer session like you guys do although i'm not playing at my favorite position. Appreciate where you guys are playing now, don't complain too much at least you all are playing outfield! =)
Your Goalie.

RING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Team Goat 4 STAR CF 4
YES! Its time for us to stop living in the dream and starts waking up from it! Today saw us put an end to our winning streak. It was really a bad feeling for the team because we all knew that we could have easily won it today! Now it is close to the end of the season and the points on the table is not looking very pleasing for the team in red. With 5 games left and now on par (games) with league leaders Zespol, we are still trailing 2 points and the remaining games that we are going to play is not going to be a breeze. With Star CF, Thunder, Zespol, Swee Swee 1 and VNPNUS to face us in the upcoming weeks it is definitely going to be a tough road ahead for us!
Right now (no disrespect to other teams) it looks like there are only down to 5 teams chasing for the title namely Thunder, Swee Swee, Zespol, Tour d'France and Us. We are still to face 3 of them who are going for it and these 3 games would be crucial for us. So i would really wish all key players to be present for the last 5 games if not it would be pretty hard for us to push the converted division 1 trophy! We have also played all the teams in Division 1 and we should have already know what are their strengths and weakness so in each of the upcoming games we will have to tackle those weakness and make their strength weak!
To the game....
Goal!!!!! yes it was just 1 min from kick off and a goal has been scored but it was from Star CF after a mis-kick by Sean from left back which gave opp the ball to drive into the box and put a shot to me.I parried it but the punch was not hard enough and dropped to the other side of the goal to let the another player have an easy tap in. Speeding up, a battle in midfield was formed everyone was flying around trying to get the ball and kiong managed to find his way to the ball. Faking left and right to avoid the defender, kiong puts a left legged pass down the middle for Jackson and yes a cool tapped in by our captain again. 1-1!
Not so long after Jackson's goal, Team Goat's goal was under threat again but Liang got in with a crucial tackle and won the ball. Running up, he made a lob passed to Kiong and the opp centre back was too slow to react with the situation resulting to an easy tap in for kiong. 2-1 and 1st half ended.
2nd half was pretty much a mess-up situation where 5 goals were scored in this half. 2 long throw in have helped Star to get 2 easy header on target and into the net resulting in a change of scoreline. From a game we were leading, we were actually losing. But Yiwen with his new pair of boots reacted quickly to the situation and was in the right place at the right time when a free kick was swung in. Getting the rebound he fired the ball into the net. 3-3
Here comes the mess up part. Star was awarded a free-kick and the ball came in in-swinging and WeiMing (we all now know it was u!!!) push a striker who was going for the ball. Penalty! As i could not do much to avoid the goal it was 4-3 to Star. But soon after Yiwen Equalised again with a corner at the exact spot where he scored his 1st goal. 4-4
Many chances were created by us but all did not came fruitful. Many free-kicks, corners and 1 on 1 chances were wasted. Not to mention, Jack who have the last kick of the game who almost went in. It is just one on these days that we just do not have the luck. But i still feel that this game came just in time to wake us up from the dream as we might be getting a little complacent from winning 4 games in a row. With this draw, i hope everyone would be on their toes and more effort could be put into the next 5 games to help us secure the title!
MOTM: Yiwen
Need i say more? By playing 30mins in the game, he has shown his goal scoring prowess by scoring 2 goals and what was important was his ability to be at the right place at the right time to tap all the ball into the net! Kudos to you and u definitely deserved it. Like i said before, beware all Player of the Season contender, Yiwen is BACK!

Attacking the spaces, cutting in from the flanks
My long overdue article.
When I first had the idea to write this article, it was just after the friendly game in Hougang. In that matched I played 20 mins at left back and I had a revelation with regard to the strength of our formation and our team.
By now, I assume all our players should be familiar with our system of 4-3-3 and the wings are our strength. To be honest with you I felt our team was so strong on that day with me playing left back! (of course our opponent did play a huge part for that feeling!)
You see that day I thought I was Patrick Evra, I supported the attack like a star winger (ok I know I was very slow and wasted quite a few through-balls) and defended like a rock-solid left back!
Ok I have digress too much. My point is that I was afforded all the space in front of me because the left winger was cutting in from the flank and dragged with him their right back and DM! There was so much room for me to roam forward and join in the attack! If JC was playing at left back that day I think we would have slaughter them mercilessly. I observed similar effect on the right back too with jeffery and sean doing exactly the same thing.
The effect was double-up when Alan/Yiwen was playing left wing as he can cut in and take long shots at goal! As such, I think we are now capable to have variations in our attack. We can choose to go wide and open up or go narrow thru the middle depending on the opponent, field size and the mentality we want to have (attacking or defensive). Frequent swapping of the 2 wingers during the game is also a effective form of distraction!
I think besides the 2 wingers, our full-backs are equally important part of our game! Now you may ask me, if our full-backs are so offensive, wouldn't our defence be exposed? You may be right, but the whole team has been improving as a whole and we need a more adventurous and total team football! Furthermore, that's the reason we have 2 DMs! So each will cover 1 flank! Not to mention we have some pretty good centre-back with good positional sense! Most importantly, I have faith in our regular full-backs in terms of making the decision to attack or defend during game condition!
Enough said, all-in-all, we need to encourage a more elaborate way of game plan! Let's put the tactics into action tomorrow!

Bedok Green Secondary
The aritfical turf of Bedok Green Secondary School
The astro turf of Bedok Green has brought Team Goat many good and bad moments....
- An important 3-2 win against Sufi FC (YSOSRS)
- Almost a title decider lost to Serangoon FC 3-4
- And lastly the one we should have won, 1-1 draw against Tour d'France
To me, walking into the field again this time round will incur mixed feelings. The field is rather small which does not suit our style but surprisingly we have managed to score every time we were there. But to me, i have never won a game at Bedok Green before (I was not present during the Sufi's game due to BMT) which actually makes me rather uncomfortable there. The images of conceding 4 goals after we were leading by 3 against Serangoon and the own goal at the dying moments with Tour d'France is still haunting me. I really hope this time it will be different and bring me joy as we could climb to 1st place (if the results go our way). So guys please do me a favour and win the game alright! Make me fall in love with the field of Bedok Green please!!!! (Its so near my house!!!)
Next, i will be talking about our Team's strength for this weekend. If you have heard it from someone or somewhere you are most likely to get it right. This Saturday will see us show our Team depth again with 22 personnel. Looking to your right at the players section, other than Thaddeus and Amran the rest will be appearing for the game. Trial players not included.
Do not feel down when you see the numbers, i have planned and tried my best to arrange in a way that everyone (excluding the youths) will be able to play at least 30mins this coming Saturday. But i can't confirm you that this is going to work after all we are still in a competitive league if there is a need to chase the game we would be forced to choose and let the player who is on form that day to stay on the field a little longer. If that were to happen i would really need your help on that alright?
To the youths, we're really sorry if we're not able to field you in to play this Saturday (if the scoreline does not come our way). If we are leading a certain scoreline we would definitely filled you guys in. As senior players have priority in our weekend games i still hope for understanding and i'm sure when the chance arise, you will have the chance to shine alright? To add on, me and Alan (Yiwen) is planning some weekdays night football for the team. During than, you will have all the chance to shine and prove to us you should be the one on the field on our Saturday games alright? So look our for that, same goes to the Senior players, if you are not performing be mindful of getting drop!
Other than that i hope you guys have a good rest before the game and see you guys on Sat! Oh and please look out for the weatherman post on friday night? (hor weather man?)

Meanwhile i have just checked with ZhuLiang and the Team Funds is currently at a balance. Which is just nice. Neither positive or negative. Thus next month we will be collecting some funds to add some money into the a/c.

1st after this weekend?
Every week we are looking to better ourselves and every week we succeeded in what we set out for to achieve! Is this pure luck or do we really have what it takes to be able to fight for glory again? Lets just say we have both and we should be keeping our feet to the ground and continue to fight hard for the remaining last 6 games.
No games will be easy for us as i don't believe that there is an easy opp in football. No matter how i underestimate each team, it always come back to haunt me! If you don't believe me you can ask WeeKiong or ZhuLiang. Thus, although we will be playing against the bottom team this weekend i'm not expecting an easy victory.
Opp: STAR CF
Jersey: Red
K.O: 3pm
Venue: Bedok Green Secondary School
(http://maps.google.com.sg/maps?hl=en&sugexp=cvnsp&xhr=t&cp=7&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=bedok+green+secondary+school&fb=1&gl=sg&hq=bedok+green+secondary+school&hnear=bedok+green+secondary+school&ei=0uQzTb_3KMnQrQfEva22CA&sa=X&oi=local_group&ct=image&resnum=4&sqi=2&ved=0CAQQtgMwAw)
Information about STAR CF:
They are made up of majority malay guys with a number of chinese. They should be in their 20s which should fall under the same category as well. They finished 5th in division 1 last season winning 3 drawn 6 lost 5. This season they have only played 5, drawn 3 and lost 2 in the process. But don't be fool by what you see on the table, the 3 games that they have drawn were against 2 good teams, once against Tour d'France and twice against VNPNUS.
Looking at their past result they will be quite a decent team to play against as they don't let in too much goals in their games and they have an average of scoring 1 goal per game. I will be expecting them to have a skillful midfield and a rather fast wing play. Thus the emphasis on this Saturday will still to be on midfield, so long as we are able to close them down and not let them spread the ball we should be fine.
Lets just get our fifth win on the bounce and if the result for Tour d'France go to our favour we will be 2nd this coming saturday! And who knows with Zespol not playing this weekend a 4-0 win will send us top of the table!
On another note, we will be welcoming back our no.7, Jack from his trip to east asia. After a long absence will he still be fit as he was or have he put on weigh? We will know this coming sat!

Mid-Season Team's Review
Hi all Goatees,
If you felt that there is way to many post currently i'm sorry about it cos it might be confusing and a drag of time to read so many posts but i feel that today is the day i should write about this cos after our game (winning games HAHA) will be the time where many of us will visit the blog to read the articles thus which is why i decide to write it today. But still remember to read the articles before this review which are,
This season our form is quite special. In the 1st half of the season (actually is 7 but we already played 8) we have won 4 drawn 1 lost 3. The lost and draw games all happened in our 1st 4 games and we have won 4 consecutively on the trot. To win a title here in D2D the most games u can lose is 3. (according to previous records) So does that mean we can't lost anymore game? No!
To my knowledge this season's league in Division 1 is pretty tight with many good teams competing for the title this season. Thus i would think we could afford to lose 1 and draw another 1 but it would make us in a pretty close fight for it again and who knows the discipline part may play apart again and we will win the title due to that? I would say so long we keep our winning run in tact we should be safe.
F.y.i We have Thunder team, Zespol, 2 games against Star CF, VNPNUS and of cos Swee Swee 1 FC (looking forward) to play against.
2. Transfers
To be honest, we are actually not required to bring in anymore outfield players or you could also say that actually we do not need anymore players but if you would like to bring a friend along for a game is ok but i (+ comm members) can't promise you and your friend that he will have ample time to play. So do let us know in advance and we'll look at that particular weekend turnout to decide whether he should come alright?
But if you have a very good player to intro do let us know we will see what we can do. But guys do keep a look out if you have a very good striker or goalkeeper, the team will be better if there is one! Thanks!
3.Funds
In the past, we use to collect $2 a month for the fund but after collecting 2 months, the treasurer had said that we are actually collecting too much from you guys which i have the same thoughts so for now as we are out of our mini 'Financial Crisis' we will collect money around every 2 months! Thanks
4. Aims/Goals
As i have share a bit in the 'Form' section, to me i feel that since we are in top 3 now we should be gunning for the top position. Looking at the table (http://d2dsports.footballopod.com/D2D_LeagueTable.aspx?id=60&leagueid=43&divid=75), both the teams in top 2 have played a game more than us thus if we win the upcoming games on hand we should be able to close the gap. To me, we should be gunning for a simple top 2 position and if the results goes to our favor a 1st place position would not be too hard right?
Don't everyone wishes to have another party like last season again? So if you guys want it, lets dig hard and push for it! 6 more games and maybe another medal would be on our necks again!
5. Player of the Season Candidate
This season Player of the Season Candidate have seen quite a few changes with a new forerunner and many new faces into contention! 1 player that impress me this season is our Captain, Jackson, who is on red hot form scoring! He also lead the team with example and scores crucial winning goals.
Manfred and BoonWee have also come into contention with their assist and goals (by manfred). They would be a threat to Jackson if their forms continue! Yiwen is still in the light fighting for this player of the season, though he is silent this time round but the magical Yiwen can come out from no where and starts scoring all over the park! He is a force to be reckon with! So here you go these are the players who are the forerunners for this season's player of the season award! Actually i would like to point out that ZhuLiang could also have an outside chance as well, after he stepped back to the defense line more clean sheet and fewer shots have reached me. Maybe its me, but i feel as a keeper his heading skills in the center helped me a lot!
6. Future Prospect
Like what we have joked in the past we are looking to win both div 1 and div 2 (already won) champions before we would move out to bigger league. So what i'm looking at is that maybe if we could win again this season we would jump ship over to Espzen to fight for more glory. But if we do not we would possibly talk about it after the season is over with you guys! Are we too stay and fight our move over alright!
But re-assured the decision will be made by you guys and not only by the comms member. Also, i would also ask to rest for at least 1 month before the new season kick off. Like what we have done last season we only rest 1-2 weeks before another season start. I would feel it is tiring and exhausting as we haven had any friendly games to rest our mind (as winning is not a must in league games!) and we would need to challenge again.
7. Current First 11 (This is from what i have seen when i'm between the sticks!)
Goalkeeper - Me (duh!)
RightBack - Jeffrey
RightCentreBack- Norman
LeftCentreBack - ZhuLiang
LeftBack- Ariel
DefensiveMid- Thaddeus
DefensiveMid2- Jackson
LeftWinger- Manfred
RightWinger- JinChuen
AttackingMid- BoonWee
Striker- KahWoon
This is what i have chosen from the ways you guys have been playing in the field. I have hard thoughts when i'm writing this because i'm afraid that this might backfire on me causing you guys to be angry or disappointed. But guys let me tell you this, i wrote this is to let you guys know of your form and there is contest in every position. You are in the list now cos you are doing well but once u start to slip off many will be coming to be in the best 11. For those who are not in the list don't angry at me, prove to this idiot keeper that he is wrong (like what Manfred said, let your feet do the talking) and be the best that you are! Look at the list properly, Yiwen and Kiong is not in! (I think he is so going to score goal for upcoming games liao!)
Thats all folks, hope you guys understand why i do this and it really took me sometime to think about it. I'm 100% with the team and i'm sure you guys are as well! So lets see what Team Goat can do!
Kambeng!

(P.s i'm happy that everyone who did not turn up for the game texted me asking about the result! we did not have these in our previous years! We are bonding well! keep it up!)

A very scrappy affair
Team Goat 2 Swee Swee 1 FC 1
Damn the weatherman for its god damn accurate weather prediction. Cloud gathering at 2 and a heavy downpour at 3, cant get any 'Zhun' than that. When i first arrived at the field, my 1st statement to the treasurer (ZhuLiang) was," wa sian! somemore going to rain later at 3. Sure goner la!" Yes indeed it rained but our match started 'PROMPTLY' at 3.45pm thanks to the opp for having just 6 players on the venue. We waited from warm up till we cool down and warm up again.
To the game... Kicking off with just 9 men wearing blue you would probably think that the red team will walk away with a win in ease. You're freaking wrong!!! Just the start of the game the team with 9 men started running down our flanks and shots were fired at the goalkeeper. 1 or 2 saves were made and a few flying over the bar. After 30mins we were still not able to stable ourselves in the midfield area the breakthrough came when their no.7 ran down the right flank going pass Ariel. Determined not to let him pass, Ariel slide in and brought the man down. Penalty! 1-0 enough said.Soon it was Half-time
Still with 9 men, 2nd half started a little brightly for Goat as we were more disciplined and being more organised as well. Passes were made and we soon took the chance to attack as we saw the players on the other half getting tired. First penalty was awarded to us when BoonWee was being pushed in the box when Manfred delivered the corner. JinChuen stepped up but hit the woodwork. (During that point of time, i really feel we are going to lose)
Moving on, another penalty came soon after (ard 5mins) when Jinchuen start driving into the box to make his shot and was brought down by their player who was awarded a 2nd yellow. (this is where all it begins.) Penalty was taken by Manfred and it went straight to the bottom left corner leaving the goalkeeper rooted. 1-1!
As we are pushing for goals, opp started to get rough and rowdy with their play and many free-kicks and cards were awarded. Kiong after 5mins got himself another yellow to send him to the sidelines for kicking at the goalkeeper when he already had the ball. Although down to 10men, Team Goat is still 2 men ahead of Swee Swee 1 FC and the breakthrough came soon after. With Manfred running down the flank he puts in a low cross for the running Jackson to calmly and cooly slots it home for our 2nd goal! The rest was just wasting of time and playing it simple. Final Score 2-1
Although the game was won by us i had to give credit to Swee Swee 1 FC for their plays. They are indeed a great team to play against the passing and movement is really good.(I can't imagine when they have all their players.) Although we are short on our 1st team players but our make shift is still not that bad. We have totally been played during 1st half and sometimes during the 2nd half. For our return game against them, we would really need to buck ourselves up to play with them and definitely hope for a better field to play at.
Man of the Match - Manfred
To me i felt that everyone did not perform today and everyone was still on their bed as morale was low and actually everything was just scrappy. But Manfred shine today with him constant running on the left wing and supporting his left back in times of trouble. He also have shown his coolness when taking the penalty and the cross to help Jackson with the goal. He is also cool when opp starts getting rough and did not fight back when he could do so. So Kudos to him for being our man of the match!

Weather Forecast for 15 Jan 11
Weather forecast for today from the weatherman. (Sorry went AWOL for awhile! Stuck at weekend duty!)
Unfortunately weather is expected to build-up at 1400H and start the heavy downpour from 1500H to 1600H. (The sky also don't want you guys to play without me!)
I guess maybe you guys can just pop-by to TKGS and watch some saturday netball or volleyball practise?
Hope I am wrong!

A day for reunion!
Last Saturday Team Goat when for their 1st ever team gathering? at Simpang Bedok! The Prata, the mee-s, the rices and drinks including ice water (for JC) was simply too good to refuse! After our victory over AJPL we head down to the venue thanks to our lovely drivers who is able to drive the team there!
All those talk-cock sessions and eating together made me feel that the team is so ever bonded! No one was being left alone as we could all indulge ourselves in everyone's topic. We shared with one another about our life and advise were given when some needed help. Don't you start feeling that we are becoming a family?
Rather than call ourselves a competitive football team who only want to win matches, why not call us players who love to play beside each other and enjoying the session much! No matter win or lose we will still be as one! =)
Here's the bill! isnt it cheap! Lets hope to do it again when we have the time! Till than!

December Player of the Month
This month Player of the Month Award...
This Month player of the month award is awarded to our loan-ee player Keng Yang. A loan spell with us just like David Beckham to Tottenham for 2months (if that ever happen). Although he is just played one month + with the team, he have shown his skills and the ability to control the midfield with his touches and positioning skill. Our treasurer/Centre back have this to say about his presence in the middle of the park, "With him infront of me i just need to shift behind him just in case he misses the ball, but apparently he never miss!" I guess Zhuliang will miss him now after he is gone as he hates running around the pitch! (no offense to others dm! cos when ZL starts playing CB the dm is already KengYang)
I guess many will be sadden by KengYang's departure back to Aussie, as much as we would want him to stay we would still like to wish him all the best for his studies and come back healthy at the end of the year to play with us again! =)

The game for 3rd place
As we are moving up the table our goals and target for this season is being changed each week. I still remembered 1 month ago, before we got our 1st win against VNPNUS, our goal and aim was just to get our of the relegation zone. And now with 3 wins on the trot we are looking at 3rd position this coming saturday! Why is that so? Because we will be playing against the current 3rd position (Swee Swee 1 FC) who have played same matches as us but just 1 point above us. A win this weekend will see us being propel to 3rd position and just 3 points away the current league leaders! Definitely this coming weeks will be crucial for us to challenge for honours again and i still hope we can deliever and continue our tradition!
Opp: Swee Swee 1 FC (3rd placed last season, contest for the title right till the end)
K.O: 3pm
Attire: Red
Venue: Tanjong Katong Secondary (A very good field with short grass from my memory of the place)
(http://maps.google.com.sg/maps?hl=en&wrapid=tljp1294634211218024&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=tanjong+katong+secondary+school&fb=1&gl=sg&hq=tanjong+katong+secondary+school&hnear=Singapore&cid=0,0,12844612975157540411&ei=qYwqTfeyGcvnrAeArsTHDA&sa=X&oi=local_result&ct=image&resnum=2&sqi=2&ved=0CB4QnwIwAQ)
Information about opp:
A newly created team which has just entered an amatuer league. Our aim is to take the title and become champions. Our team consists mainly of patricians and ex-patricians which emphasizes bonding we have as we share the same background of secondary school life.
Consisting of a rock solid defence, an extremely skillfull midfield and an unstoppable striking force, we aren't afraid of what our opponents will bring to the pitch but we always love a fair and friendly game with no fights and arguments.
We live and die for soccer. Try and stop us.
As the text have said, they are ex-saint pats and you guys should have at least heard rumours of how good st pats players are. I'm not really sure if they are from the football team but they should be quite a skillful team with speed. Consisting the all 4 races of Singapore in the team i should see quite a mix passing and running type of play! So we shall see on sat what they will bring to us and adjust within ourselves again.
Right now we are doing good and we should never be complacent about winning! We should have learnt our lesson in our 1st few games and be more firm with our attack and defense. Lets hope we can come out ahead again this weekend! Right now winning this league is no longer a fairytale for us. It could jolly well come true if results keep going our way =)

Opp: Swee Swee 1 FC (3rd placed last season, contest for the title right till the end)
K.O: 3pm
Attire: Red
Venue: Tanjong Katong Secondary (A very good field with short grass from my memory of the place)

3 Wins in a row!
Team Goat 2 AJPL 1
3 wins in a row! Will we be winning all the way now and fight for the title in the near future or it is just imaginary? I believe we are fighting for silverware again this time round! Why? With what i have seen yesterday we have definitely improved on our passing game tremendously. This is made possible because we guys wanted the team to do well! and i'm feeling Shiok Shiok about it!
To the match... The game started off rather shaky for our team as we were quite shocked by how big the field actually was (normally the field size we play is like damn small!). So positioning wise of players including me have to be arranged in a fast manner as we were being attacked left right and center at the start of the game. in less that 5mins of playing time a one on one chanced was bestowed on us but luckily i managed to save the ball and put it away to safety.
Moving on, a mis-kick by the fatty keeper (me) led to the 1st goal of the game. The ball bounce before the center line and opp send the ball straight back to our left back area. With everyone pushed up, they sent in a fast pace cross and a tap from the striker send the ball flying in. The Fatty keeper only could kneel down in disgrace....
All was cool after that as we started to adjust to the tempo of the game and the size of the pitch. Passes was made, everyone was helping each other out! (Great to see!) Than as time goes on, subs was make thad came in which was the main story of the day, he stabilizes the midfield yesterday as the game was majority played there his bulldozer liked playing style was what we needed yesterday!
But the key to Team Goat's victory yesterday was the ball of steel captain! Jackson was sprinting to the long ball cross from the center park by Kiong when the opp cleared the ball and hit our dear captain's nuts! Without feeling anything after being hit for 1 min he managed to continue running and dribble the ball forward to a 1 on 1 situation and netted the ball! 1-1 Team Goat! (After he scored he sub-ed out to nurse his injury! LOL!)
Soon after, 1st half concluded. 2nd half started brightly for team goat as we showed our depth in the big big field! With opp bringing only 13 players, we brought 21! Subs and shuffles was made and a much refreshed Goat went in!
Determined not to let them give any more long balls upfront we pressured all their midfield and defence to stop their only source of attacking! thus they were force to play to the wings which was not their best option. We managed to attack and push them till the deadlock finally broken around 75-80mins where yiwen was running down the wing! He passes back to kiong who is coming over to support in...
With Kiong superb mathematics calculations (a very soft) cross the ball managed to bounce through 2 AJPL players legs and fall to Jackson's! With a touch forward and a shot, he sent the goalkeeper scrambling! 2-1 Team Goat!
After that was just controlling the game and passes was made. Subs were brought in as well to run down the clock, run against the tired opp!
Key notes!!!
1) I feel like i'm Victor Valdes or even Edwin Van de Saar sometime! Not the skills lah! is like i feel that the team is playing like Barcelona or Manchester United sometime when the goalkeeper just need not do anything! For the whole of the fucking 2nd half i just stand there and took only 1-2 goalkick!
2) Have u guys since how elated and how the team celebrated together when Jackson scored the 2nd goal? From my view everyone was running towards him hugging and congratulating him for his goal! This was hardly seen in the previous season and from this i have definitely seen a much united Team Goat! Somehow i believed the 3 losses at the start of the season has much unite the team to how it is today!
3) The passing in the game. Like i have emphasis on passing previously, we have done it really good this game! Without the likes of yiwen infront of us for 3 weeks we will not be able to send the long ball we usually do and let him do all the chasing! (Seriously thats how we have played in the past) NOW, we are different we no longer rely on him (HE IS HAPPY OF THAT!!) the passing game has brought a new change to the way we play and i definitely hope it will continue!
4) With a formation of 4-2-3-1 the striker now is not the Goalscorer now instead he is the man leading the front supporting the 3 to score, thus it will be natural to see wingers and the attacking midfielders to score! So, if you are playing as striker but u didn't score don't be negative! You are doing well in assist! Don't believe?
- Yesterday saw kiong made 2 assist to jackson as he was playing striker, 1 he controlled the ball as he dropped back to collect the ball and the 2nd when he assisted yiwen on the right wing
- Next saw previous MOTM boon wee running around in East View secondary making 2 crucial assist to win VNPNUS 3-0. Remember the pass and penalty he got?
MOTM - Need i say more who is the rightful owner for the award? Although he is not able to get his hat-trick, our MOTM Jackson will definitely be eye-ing for the hat-trick of MOTM awards in his cabinet! A good display of flair, ability and definitely his balls of steel has led him to the award! Congrats!
Although Jackson got the award i believe it was a tight contest with Kiong, Thad and KengYang in the contest for it as well. Kiong with his 2 crosses, Thad with his bulldozing pressure on the midfield and winning of the ball. Kengyang's stability at the Midfield and passing was important as well! This 4 players have definitely been key yesterday!
Thanks and thats all i have right now for you guys! Enjoy our win and lets be ready for the 4th win this coming Saturday!
Kambeng!

The Jerseys of Team Goat
Here is a casual post of all the jerseys that we wear in the past years and some players who already left the team! Just a little bit of history to the 'new' guys!
Alright! 1st thing u all should know is that.... Team Goat is officially formed on 3rd April 2007 and we are marching to our 4th year this year in 2011! and how do we define officially? Well, meaning its the 1st game we guys played as a team and i still remembered clearly the scored of the game! It ended 5-5! There was no referee in that friendly game and the pitch cost $110!! BS
Now lets the picture do the talking!
1st Generation!
YES! for those of you who have never seen it! this is our 1st Generation Goat Jersey! The same as the ones used by SAF FC that year in the Sleague! And yes as well we have our logo embroiled to the jersey! But due to high cost nowadays we decided not to do it but if u guys are interested do let us know and we can have a survey whether to put it up again =)
And this is the 1st Generation Team as well.
From Top Left - Right - Ah Bao (never was in the team! HAHAHA!), Kahwoon, Jeff, Jack, ZhuLiang , Lionel, Steve
From Bottom Left - Right - Yiwen, Derek, Lyndon, HuiXiang, Jackson, Azri, Kevin
Next is our 2nd Generation!
This is our 2nd generation jersey! some of you guys may see us wear it still! Yes i changed to 11! I'm a FORWARD!!!
Moving on... 3rd Generation
The 3rd generation is much more meaningful where there is pretty much more changes in the team then, YaoChen, BoonWee and co. just joined the team and so was many players leaving the team! The 3rd generation was not as stable as it u think it was and there were many down periods then, there was not much friendly games being organized! but nonetheless we stick through together and re-group to who we are now!

4th Gen!
(the Game that made us CHAMPIONS!!)
And the Jersey that we are donning now!Lastly, I will be talking about the Logo that symbolizes Team Goat!
The Logo was designed by 2 personnel, One was our 1st generation player HuiXiang and also by Jes (yiwen's soon to be wife =X). The Logo was made to symbolize who we are and definitely we are really playing like the way it is being portrayed! Attack with sharpness and continuously moving forward and upward!
The name Goat - Greatest Of All Time was created by Jackson back in our Street Soccer days where he made this name out with our group of friends (if u guys remember Yat, shaiful can co). This has been our name ever since we started playing and i definitely hope it will stay and we will be the Greatest Of All Time!
Hope u guys know a little bit more about Goat now after this post!

A game of triangles
Many apologies for the extended lull period on our team site due to my personal illness. Sick for a good 5 days. Anyway here is the first article to quench your thirst. I introduce you to the views and comments session of our latest edition
The last 2 weeks of the year has seen Team Goat shifting towards a more training-oriented focus. Our source close to the team manager has confirmed that the winter-loan star had recently conducted a meeting with the gaffer encouraging a more short-passing game. He was said to be very impressed with the individual ability of Team Goat but the entire team can move up another level with more short-passing game especially from the back.
This got me thinking of our perpetual failings - inability to beat the uncle team. This boil down to us only having one way of playing (proudly, we are quite good at it) - counter attack. I am not saying that we should not do counter attack but we ought to have variation in our game play. When we play uncle team, they sit back and deny us the space for counter attack. We need to have possession-play.
The key to possession-play starts from the back. We need to start passing from the back and it is not just the responsibility of the CBs. By now you must be wondering what my article title is about. Triangles, the basis of football for all South-American team. Imagine yourself holding on to the ball just outside of own penalty box, an opponent come charging-in, what you do? Pump the ball! Well, that's the easy way out. We need to move on from this.
Every player is in 1 triangle with 2 other players. These should be the primary targets for your passing. Similarly when the player in your triangle is holding onto the ball, you move to an open area where he can pass to you. These 3 players form a mini-team. Back to the earlier situation, you have the ball with opponent charging; first thing you look for your #1 mini-teammate, he is tightly marked, you look for #2 and he is free!
Of course you can be involved in more than 1 triangle and depending on your position on the field at that moment, you should choose a different triangle accordingly. Having said that, we need not be too rigid (especially the front players) on this.
Some of my proposed triangles:
LB-LCB-LDM
RB-RCB-RDM
LB-LDM-LW
RB-RDM-RW
LCB-RCB-LDM-RDM (I know it is a square!)
Enough said, I guess you guys are smart enough to get my idea. The key to this style of play is a very mobile line of LB-LDM-RDM-RB. Give the CB options when he has possession. The full backs should open up to the by-line so as to widen the angle or attract the opponents out from the middle. 1 DM should run back and offer a short option while the other roam to find a good angle for CB to pass to. Depending on the number of enemy Forwards, the other CB can move and provide another option.
Once the ball move out (e.g. to the LB) then the other triangle shall be active (the LW and LDM better make themselves available). But if no options available he can always go back to the earlier triangle! Back to the LCD!
However, if you are pressured and facing your own-goal, dun be afraid of passing back to the GK! The GK has improved over the season especially in terms of kicking (he takes quite decent goalkicks nowadays if you haven't realised). The fact that he can score 2 goals in the recent friendly shows that he has the skills to deal with proper back pass. The team has not really utilise the GK sufficiently.
Have faith in the passing game but dun forget to put the ball in Row Z if the situation calls for it.
Disclaimer: I am not discouraging the existing style that brought us so much success and I believe our wingers is where our strength lies. By playing a possession game, however, we can create even more opportunity for the wingers and forward players to shine.
It will take time for us to adapt and mistakes would surely be committed. Nonetheless, these are crucial steps for the team to grow as a whole to the next level.
We will do this together, as a team, as brothers; be it loss or victory. We will improve.

League Match 7

Information about opp AJPL FC:
AJPL FC a.k.a The Vykings
Established in June 2007, the team has came a long way and will debut in their first ever league participation in the D2D league. Our motto of "Passion, Desire & Friendship" are what drives the team for success. The team is made up of a group of 22 youngsters with the age ranging of 19-22. The team led by former prime league & NFL player, Soh Say Kuan, the team is progressing beyond expectations.
They are more or less similar age group to us and i would be expecting a fast pace game. I do not have much information about the team and their reputation in the league does not show that they are a very physical team. What i think our team should look out for is their NFL player who is bearing the no. 23.
About Team Goat:
With the steamboat happening this week as well as our game! I would predict a large turnout for the game this weekend! With Norman, BoonWee and JinChuen back from their vacations, this may be a Major Selection headache for this upcoming game. But i'm sure Manager Yiwen and Captain Jackson will be happy with the options that they are given and come out with the best players for each position!
A match preview will be out in the upcoming days when i have the no. and names of people turning out for the game. Meanwhile look out for more entries by Lap as well!

Clearing the air
Alright! Some of you guys who is playing for the team now maybe a-bit confuse with actually what the formation is. So i'm taking this free time that i have to let you guys know how we are actually playing!
The back 4 - The back line is of the same style with 2 full backs and 2 centre backs. But what is difference is that our 2 centre backs one will be in a much forward postion and while the other will be the sweeper just infront of the goalkeeper. The one at the front (liang or norman) will be clearing the 1st ball if it drop behind the DM and of course the sweeper (omar) will clear up the ball if it ever dropped to his side of the pitch!
The 2 DMs - I would say we dont really play with 2 DMs (1dm and 1 mc) but i would try to make it a point to have 2 because due to stamina and pace. Our team is good but not that good to last the full 90! so if we have 1 DM we will normally have circumstances with the team defending with around 5 personnel + GK (1 full back will bomb forward leaving a gap at the back) which is quite bad when opp counter! Thus the emphasis of 2 DM is important for the team. Common people playing there would be Jackson, Laphang, Norman, Kenny, Kahwoon, Thaddeus and as well our guest player KengYang.
The Attacking Midfielder - Free-role is what we are giving him in this modern game of football. He will drift to the right, to the left, to the front and remain center if need be. He will decided where his movement should be to aid the team. Passing, assisting the centre forward and maintain position is his main role in the team. Common people there would be Kiong, Derek, WeiMing and Jackson.
Wings - See what Yiwen, Jinchuen and Manfred have done? They are the best wingers our team have and should i even say the main source of attack for the team. Their speed and skills is what bring the team forward in every attack and i would say the wings is important in this formation that we used. With only 1 centre forward they would be required to go into the box to when the ball is being brought forward from the other side to act as a 2nd striker. (to know more about how wings play just look at Man city and Barcelona. Silva and Messi playing style rather similar)
Centre Forward - Can i just say this is the position where we lack the talent? In Singapore everyone wants to be a striker but how many are there really out there? Finding a natural goalscorer isn't easy but i'm glad we are able to find a few unorthodox striker for our team. Aiding in attack as well as defending from the top is what our CF do and actually he is doing quite a good job at that! People commonly play there are Kahwoon and Boonwee
Alright, i hope this post will clear up some confusion that how our team play. We would mostly play like this unless there is a point to be make or we are chasing a losing game.

Steamboat!!
Can u Resist the temptation?
Yes! its the time of the year again where friends and brothers gather around a table to enjoy good food and each others accompany! So for the 1st time Team Goat will be organizing a Steamboat session for the upcoming Chinese New Year!
Also, this gathering will be for our guest player, KengYang who is going back to Australia to continue his studies! Love him or Hate him, he has contributed much to the team by helping us to get back to our winning ways and also in help to train up the guys passing ability and movement on the pitch! It will be another 11mths till he return from Sydney again so lets wish him all the best on that day itself alright?
Not to forget, our dear Manager Yiwen will be going to OCS for training soon and he wont be out for 3 weeks! So it would be a good 'Farewell' for him as well before he starts going for his training! Definitely we will be able to have an even faster Yiwen when he is out!
So guys, i hope each and everyone would be excited about the steamboat session! Yiwen will be sending out sms about the details soon! So look out for it!
Kambeng!
