Anyway thanks for allowing me to play with you guys and i would say its been a pleasure to play for this team with memories of my secondary school team where everyone is fighting for each other whether we win or lose we play for each other
prob you will find me a bit KB on the field and i seek your understanding as when i play for a team of players worth fighting for i tend to be more KB...its just my few cents of opinion from my years of soccer since secondary and JC days on how the team can improve further...but i do make mistakes too so if u think on how i can improve on my game just tell me coz i would love to improve on my game play as well...even after i leave for australia i think you guys can tell each other your opinions so that everyone improves and its good for the team as a whole too
i would consider that majority of you all are technically sound so the way to go into improve on game play as a team...the one-twos, pass and run etc...yes you will make mistakes trying to do these more complicated stuff but mistakes are the first step to succeeding and i would say today we made a few good combination passes and plays and if as the saying if u can do it once, you can improve to do it 10 times and later 100 times
merry christmas and a happy 2011 everyone!

Double Win for Team Goat
At 1pm yesterday, Yiwen called over,
Yiwen: "eh opp walkover, we win."
Jeff: "Wa Fuck! than what no game a?" (c i concern about the game, who wan free wins! LOL!)
Yiwen: " No lah got friendly game against Orchid Park."
Jeff: "Wa SWEE!!! i play outfield!"
This was the conversation i had with our dear Manager when he called me to inform me about the walkover. A long awaited friendly is all i had in my mind. Why? Dont u guys feel that we have too much competitive game and its time where we should go into the field and have a relax game of football? YES! and the day had come for us to laugh at each other mistakes instead of blaming and telling each other to do better! No tension was involved, no agony misses screaming by everyone! Just a group of football enthusiasts playing their favorite sport.
Like what Lap have said, everyone did enjoyed the day and definitely i enjoyed mine! 2 goals (although 3 would be freaking whole lot better!!) from me have really made my day! I definitely believed that after this friendly game we will be able to go into our next game with more determination as we have lighten up the mood and besides winning the friendly, we also have won our competitive game with a walkover! Opp have too much to drink on xmas eve? who cares? To me is the 3pts that count although we will still be on the bottom half of the table but we are catching up! its no longer a dream to dream big now! If we believe we can make it back to top 2 i'm sure we can! look at our squad! Even a goalkeeper can score i'm sure u guys can as well! I shall be the bench mark for you guys! LOL
Now to the game,
Team Goat 3 - 1 Orchid Park
Goals: Yiwen, Jeff X2
Assist: Kiong X2 , Sean
Game started with opp having only 10 players on the field and as usual Team Goat attacked strongly towards opp goal! After a couple wave or attack by GOAT the deadlock was soon broken with a goal by Yiwen when he cut in from left blank to pull a shot. Not to forget it was Kiong's brilliant lob ball over the opp defence to create the chance for our no. 11
Blah blah blah..... Soon it was 40mins when Goat was handed a goalkick, Like everyone in the team know our dear captain was the keeper for the day and with little much to do in the game he decided to challenge himself to take a goalkick! It wasn't the best he took and the ball was deflected to Jeffrey. Unable to clear the ball, Jeffrey let the opp took the ball away from his feet and a shot was pulled straight to Jackson but the ball seems to be to slippery and fast for our dear captain and it fumbled into the net. A soft soft goal indeed! (without the goal it would be 3-0 baby!)
Into the 2nd half around 55mins, Kiong was brought down just outside the box by a hard tackle from the back. The usual suspect was around the ball quickly but Jeff (YES ME!) was determined to take the free-kick. Referee asked if he wanted the wall but he refuses and immediately took a quick free-kick. With the keeper at the far left post 'building' his wall the ball went to the right! 2-1!
Going late into the 2nd half at approximately 70mins, Team Goat was pushing the ball forward and knowing my time is up soon it was now or never to score the 2nd goal (to let me stay on the field to try for my hat-trick) and it did came! With a scramble in the box the ball was dropped onto my foot by a pass from Sean and i quickly toe-poke it away! 3-1!!! and a drogba style celebration was on the way LOL!
The game ended 3-1 but it could be much more with yiwen missing quite an amount of chances and me who was kept being blown offside which many have fight for me saying i was onside! Which is true there was like 6 offsides! at least 1 should be on right? LOL!
Special acknowledge to KengYang who was brilliant today by controlling the midfield, who string the Team together also he was the one who made a good counter-attack with Jeffrey by making at 2-3times 1-2 passes with Jeffrey to bring the ball up. Like Barcelona was the comment on the bench!
Also to Kahwoon whose god-like heading skill is still indeed god-like! he was ever so important to GOAT today by clearing ball in the box when opp is having their corner! Also by clearing up the mess in DM with his speed and determination to get the ball away!
(BRO u play everywhere also good we hard to choose where to put u leh! LOL!)
But it doesn't matter, what matter was that we won both competitively and the friendly game! And we also enjoyed our Christmas and i hope we will be able to enjoy the weeks to come!
It is a joy to be able to play with u guys and i hope we will have many many many more years to come alrite? Merry Xmas my brothers!
FYI - All the goals, assist and MOTM today will not be reflected on the blog as it is not official! But i will say it i self-nominate myself as MOTM!!! LALALALALALALALALALA!!!!

1 Shepherd, 2 socks, 3 Santa & lots of brothers
As those of you who were present at the game could testify, it took me a long while to conjure up this headline - even at the expense of being substituted very early!
Anyway I think this headline pretty much sum-up the afternoon which turned out to be a joyous one even hours before a ball was kicked! Opponent walked over with 3 points in the bag and a friendly played-on astroturf on Christmas day. What else better could I have asked for from Santa!
Alright then, 1 Shepherd 2 socks 3 Santa and lots of brothers.
Wikipedia: Shepherd = goats' keeper
The topic of the game is no doubt his heroics (as I have promised!). In fact, he is certainly in contention for player of the match with our regular goalie's outfield performance today (but not for me personally, I definitely vote for a certain no.5).
2 socks. I am adamant that jeff only hang a pair of socks on his christmas tree at home. Otherwise he could have been "gifted" more goals. After I was subbed out, I realised the referee kept checking his mini-handphone as he received instructions from the real Santa to ensure jeff only scored 2 goals (he only hanged 2 socks so could only get 2 goals; fair enough). Those constant offsides were jokes to say the least.
Of course the real Santa couldn't make it this afternoon - the hot and humid weather this afternoon would surely suffocate him and his reindeer. That's why he hired 3 Santa helpers to accomplished the task.
Santa A - for some reason, our inspirational captained returned to the first-team and took over the goalkeeper role so as to send jeff out-field. (Also not forgetting to gift our opponent a soft soft goal =) )
Santa B - their centre-back was obviously following Santa's instruction and provided the chances for jeff to score! First create such a hold in the wall for the quick free-kick. Secondly, acting to clear the ball in the penalty box for jeff to toe-poke from close range! Even Johnny Evans did a greater job against Newcastle during the recent Carling Cup game! (Evans was so good at gifting goals that he was never suspected to be working for Santa!)
Santa C - our dear no.11 for all those missed chances. In my 12 years playing football with him, I had never seen him miss so many chances in the same game before! It was so dramatic, diving header flew all the way out of fence, meeting the cross with his shin and hurt himself by sitting on his ass while through on goal etc. Everyone could see that he did his best to ensure that jeff remains the top scorer for the game!
Well this is Christmas and it was great to see everyone making jeff happy (I was sure everyone did enjoy themselves thoroughly in the process! Or at least feel entertained after reading this article!). Anyway, it was exciting (and also quite confusing) to see so many brothers in our team: Weiming & bro, Jefferey & bro, and of course Yitwoon Kahwoon & youngest bro! It was great to see everyone had a great Christmas afternoon and Team Goat certainly feels like a big family now! You are all like my brothers!
Alright, that's all I have to say for now. Will try to write some constructive articles during the week (had some observations again from today's match!). For a complete match report, wait for jeff's article. To be honest, I can't remember the score. Was it 2-1 3-1 or 4-1? It doesn't matter since it is merely a friendly. Oh yeah, and if no one has told you yet jeff, the 2 goals that you have scored doesn't count towards the top-scorer chart! Try harder next Christmas jeff (and remember to put-up more socks next time dude!).
Have a great one mates! Merry X'mas to all!

Match Preview for Game 6
Opp: AJPL FC (currently 6th in league)
Venue: Bowen Secondary School (artifical pitch)
http://maps.google.com.sg/maps?hl=en&expIds=17259,26442&xhr=t&cp=4&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=bowen+secondary+school&fb=1&gl=sg&hq=bowen+secondary+school&hnear=Singapore&cid=0,0,14171354431723563618&ei=EVkTTeXTNMf3rQeCrrTtCw&sa=X&oi=local_result&ct=image&resnum=2&sqi=2&ved=0CCAQnwIwAQ
K.O: 3pm
Attire: Red
This Saturday will see Team Goat back in action after their first win of the season with AJPL FC. AJPL FC is largely an unknown side with little review about the team being known to me. All i can say is that they are not a top team who usually be able to contest for the big awards as they were bottom 3 last season. But please do not be fooled by this numbers. They are a young and vibrant team with an average age of 20s. You could say they are similar to us thus a fast pace game is definitely invertible. More over we are playing a sports called soccer! And anything can happen and will happen to you if we take it lightly and definitely we will not be overlooking that! Still i will be cautious with the approach to the game and play the game from the back like what we have done against VNPNUS.
News have came in that we will be welcoming back our dear Captain Jackson to the line-up after his training in OBS. A stronger and fitter jackson? We will see! Also back in the team is kenny after his exam in NTU and he will definitely like to have some game time under his belt after spending 1.5 months on the studying table. Sadly Goat will still be without the likes of Manfred, Thaddeus and JinChuen. But definitely i'm confident of the team we have on this upcoming game!

News by Football Opod
20 Dec 2010:
Team Goat ended their barren run in Division 1 as they stunned VNPNUS with a morale boosting 3-0 win to climb out of the relegation zone. Having finished as runners up last season, VNPNUS seemed to be a different side as they are languishing in the bottom third of the table after failing to conjure their first win in 5 games.
23 Dec 2010:
Obtaining their first victory in a 3-0 win over VNPNUS previously, a revitalized Team Goat is targeting their second win against AJPL FC to break into the top half of the table.

Validation of 1.5/5 Viewpoints
After previously validating 1/5 of my viewpoints, it is now time to proof my 0.5 point. Why 0.5? Because though I was right about the point of a mobile centre forward, I was not exactly accurate with the predicting regarding to the candidate.
Having said that, I have nothing but respect for our starting CF last Saturday. Kahwoon did everything - except scoring. Nonetheless I am his biggest fan, but at the same time, also his biggest critics. As we have came to realisation by now, positioning is only 1 of the few categories where he does not attain 20 in Championship Manager (he deserves 20 for heading definitely!). He led the line superbly but sometimes tend to leave his team-mates behind by wandering to both wings. However, that's also part of his game through deception of the defenders! (Another stats 20 in CM! Intelligence!).
Nonetheless, he was definitely overshadowed by the MoM BoonWee and that is no way disrespectful to Kahwoon because BoonWee is such a great player! He provided the crucial link between midfield and forward and produced pass after pass for the 2 wingers to cut in! He even had the vision and composure to run into threatening position in anticipation of the crosses! With Yitwoon cutting in from the left, BoonWee drew out the central defenders and left space for Yitwoon to run into which gave us the cutting edge!
For whoever that's going to take the CF position next (WeiXiang showed glimpse of promise towards the end of the game!), there is a huge shoe to step-into. But no-fret! Just follow what BoonWee does and you are bound to be the next MoM!
Well, the rest of my other 3 viewpoints can't be proven yet until JC and Manfred return to actions! Till then, please continue to support my articles!

Validation of 1/5 Viewpoints
My previous article raised 5 viewpoints and I have received some "interesting" feedbacks. Well the situation did not allow all my theories to be validated in the last match (Manfred and JC were both absent) but at least 1 was proven!
As I have mentioned, our youth players are highly-talented and they did not disappointed on Saturday. Khalid and Derrick came on late in the game and not only provided us with the much needed dynamism but even won us the game! Both had 1 shot on goal and Khalid scored the all important 3rd goal to win us the game! This is the right way we blood our youngster just like how Theo Walcott was slowly brought to the 1st team! Kudos to Khalid and Derrick. You are our future!
Nonetheless it is never easy to handle youngsters nowadays. On one hand we are fortunate to have the likes of Khalid and Derrick; we also have our prima donna full-time model part-time footballer to deal with. No name shall be mentioned here [raise eye brow] but we would like to stress the importance of keeping your feet on the ground. Otherwise, no matter how much talent you possess, you risk of becoming the next Jermaine Pennant or David Bentley or (and the list goes on and on).
The usually talkative '5 was expressing his disappointment at the post match interview: "Today was a great chance for all our youngsters to have a go... But... He mentioned he would be coming... It (his absence) was like AWOL... Hope he learnt from this." Nonetheless, '5 was still full of praise for the youngster and insisted that there would not be any hard feelings between the pair when they meet again by joking: "don't worry, I am no Gallas and he is not Nasri!".

First Victory
Alright alright, apology for the lack of updates over the weekend. I was still in euphoria from our first victory of the season!
There are still plenty I would like to say but haven't really been free since saturday. More would follow in the subsequent days I promise.
I am really appreciative to hear all of your positive feedbacks on saturday for this blog and I would urge all of you to continue doing so - and comment on our articles online!

3 goals, 3 points and 1 clean sheet!
Yesterday we have finally saw Team Goat wrapping up all 3 points in their game against VNPNUS at East View Secondary. Goals scored by Yiwen, Ariel and Khalid helped Team Goat to secure their all needed 3points to lift themselves away from the last position of the table. With their long awaited 1st win of the season now in the bag, i believe time will tell whether if they will go all the way up to the table.
After the game, many of the Team Goat members finally have their smiling faces on and it was a sight which came after months of waiting. Jokes were cracked, Goalkeeper boasting about his cleansheet, Players hugging each other, Khalid running with joy for his 1st goal with Team Goat. This was a sight of joy from the locker room and hopes of it continuing is definitely welcomed.
To the game, 1st half was ended 0-0 with both teams pretty hard on each other with tackles flying in from everywhere (literally left, right and centre). Nevertheless, Team Goat's defense was on high alert throughout the half as VNPNUS did not even had a shot on target for their Goalkeeper to save.
To the 2nd half, things started off lively for Team Goat as they started pounding on VNPNUS goal leaving the goalkeeper making saves after saves at a very very very very very very very muddy ground! Finally the deadlock was broken and the net rippled when Boon Wee slotted in a through ball to Yiwen just outside the box. With his instep, Yiwen puts the net into the net leaving the goalkeeper rooted to the ground.
With this lead VNPNUS started to be aggressive and finally 2 consecutive free-kicks was awarded to them. 1 was saved while the other was blocked by the GREAT WALL which boasted Omar, Kiong and Zhuliang.
Determined to win the game, Team Goat pushed hard for the 2nd goal and soon they did! With a mistake of holding the ball by VNPNUS goalkeeper, Yiwen nicked in and get the ball away and put in a cross into the 6yards area. Boon Wee was running in the box than and was going for the ball but a defender from behind uses his both hands to push him to the ground and back of the net. Penalty! Ariel calmly ramps it into the net. 2-0.
2 vital corners was than delivered by VNPNUS into Team Goat's box and both of good quality. One was a free header and you can hear the sight of relieve by the players even if you are in Jurong when the ball went over the bar. The other was guarded by ZhuLiang but the ball was still being headed by a player of VNPNUS towards goal. Over the bar. (Many of the players believe that this was the 2 chance for VNPNUS to change the game)
Finally the 3rd goal came in approximately 85mins when Zhuliang decided to bring the ball up from centre defense, cutting 2-3 players in the centre of the park before he made a excellent through pass in between a defender's leg to khalid. A shot from outside of the box by khalid and the ball bounces in front of the Goalkeeper and into the net. 3-0 the scorelines says it all.
Team Goat's Player of the Match: Boon Wee (18)
Despite being only introduced to the game in 30mins, Boon Wee is still the main difference in how Team Goat get their 3 points. He was vital in setting up the 1st 2 goals with both his through pass and his runs that made it happened. He has also showed determination in getting the ball from opp defenders when he went challenging for balls no matter was it on the ground on in the air. Kudos to Boon Wee and definitely Team Goat will be looking for you to perform once again.
Players present:
Goalkeeper: Jeff
Defenders: Omar, ZhuLiang, Jeffrey, Benny, Ariel
Midfielders: Norman, KengYang, WeiMing, Laphang, Derek
Attackers: Yiwen, WeeKiong, BoonWee, KahWoon
Youth: Derrick, Khalid
Trialist: WeiXiang

KambengFlash Latest
On another news, the same source also informed KambengFlash that despite the setback in signing the BMTC OC, an unknown RSAF regular (AOSX, same vocation as Jeff) from Changi Airbase has been invited for a trial this saturday. Once again, the player is a relative unknown and initial assessment seems to indicate that he possess quick feet and a quick turn of pace. It is widely expected that he would start on the bench on saturday.

Preview for Match 5
A win-less streak of 4 games have now hit Team Goat and i'm really not proud to say it but yes we are at rock bottom of the table with only 1 point. I believe everyone in the team, including me is feeling very demoralized and is losing heart to play for the team. Mistakes happens and sometimes we'll blame each other for what they've done but hey! think about it, have u done your best to help the team? Think of a time when your team-mates is in trouble, did u run to open up space to help him out? or when he miss a shot did you encourage him to be better the next time or just blame him to be an ass for missing the ball?
To me, we are a team and we are all in this together. We win it as a team, lose together as a team. As your President for the team, i'm calling out to every Team Goat member to stick together much more NOW than before cos we need you now. Put aside your stuff and come to the game, cheer for the team! play for the team! Yes you may have important stuff to deal with but isn't Team Goat and Soccer your passion as well? Imagine if you are not around for 2 weeks and have not a clue what is going on in the team
So please, stick together now and play your hearts out for this coming weekend game!
Anyway, for this upcoming match against VNPNUS, i'm hoping for all the top players to be back in the team although i know JC is out on vaction with family and i think he deserve it as he really trained hard in army! so no worries bro!
Once again, we are playing a top team in the league, being runner-up for 2 previous season i would think that they are strong and decent team to play against. If my information is correct they are in their age of 30s and are a more physical team than any others we have met. Many opp have written or told us about their physical presence on the field and so i have warn you guys before. So lets do our best to play clean and have a good game with them!
Definitely what i hope for the team to achieve is a win in this upcoming game, it may not be easy as the field and opp is not going to do us any good but i'm sure we will be out there to give our best shot! I'm not saying we are the underdog (after all we are still div 2 champs!) but i'm sure the morale factor will be on us to conquer! so lets play our hearts out this weekend and achieve our 1st win this season!
Formation and player-listing will probably be out this thursday.

Transfer Rumour from KambengFlash
So far, the identity of the player has been a mystery but a close source to the player has disclosed some interesting facts to KambengFlash exclusively.
The player has won the 'A Div Football Champion with VJC in 2003 (Runner-up in 2002) as their lynch-pin Defensive Midfielder and was the National X-Country Champion at his age division in JC. He can complete 2.4km within 7.5 mins.
Currently serving as an OC in BMTC, it is still unclear if a deal has been reached as of today.
KambengFlash will keep you updated with the lastest news as it happens!

Winless streak falls on Team Goat
Without a win in 4 games, is Team Goat starting to feel desperate? To me i still think that we are still doing Ok. Why? Because we have just faced all the top 3 in the league and without a win its still alright. Yes we may not be able to have a say in the title this season but we could still well have a safe mid-table position and who knows if result falls on our side we could well do it again?
So lets not start grieving over our lost and starting doing well in our game!
To the game, i feel that the pitch really did us real bad this time round. We could not run as well as we thought we could, passes were left stranded due to tall and deep grass, Bobbing field make passes, clearance and goalkeeping a hard job to be dealt with. Which actually explains how we led in 3 goals that cause the difference. But kudos to Zespol who played the same field as us but still manage to get the result of 4-1.
Man of the match: Jackson
Why he won the award was not because he scored the only goal for Goat but his presence at midfield and his never gave up attitude towards the game. Constantly pushing the team on and covering the defense when needed. Well done.

A balanced Team + 5 Viewpoints
Before I start, I would like to assure Omar that I personally do not put you at fault for the defeat (I am sure all the rest feel the same way inside) so please cheer up! We can't improve without making mistakes!
Ok well let me start. I remember commenting at the end of the game against Tour D France that we had a very balanced team with JC (pls pardon my abbreviation since I used to call his bother JR so I call JinChuen JC) at left back. Point to note is that with other right-legged players at left back, we tend to push inwards and everytime we are pressured to the outside we can only weakly clear/pump the ball. In a way JC gives us option at the back to pass sideways instead of pumping up. And we can balance it with a more defensive right back.
Second observation is that JC really flourished while playing LB as he would have more space to explode into the flank (like Bale!). This was made possible especially with Manfred drifting inwards to the forward area. In order to maximise our asset, I recommend we play a pendulum swing style and allow JC to push forward at every attack. It may sound complicated but it is simply the defenders and DM shifting to the left if JC is caught out during counter attack. And JC is going to recover asap (there is a reason he gets IPPT gold ok?).
Third observation is that most of our goals scored by Manfred and Yiwen were accomplished when they cut in from both flanks. And that's where they both are at their most dangerous. Sorry Manfred, I think you are more lethal cutting in from the flank.
Fourth observation lies in Kiong's best position which most of us agree on as the Supporting Striker or AM. No disagreement there and I was quite sad to see Kiong running out of space on the Right wing against Zespol.
Fifth observation is that we lack the presence in the box (literally no one there). Nonetheless we are not a team that plays with a typical centre forward. And with Kiong's there in support for the flick-on and crosses firing from both flanks I would highly recommend our best headerer of the ball - Kahwoon to be the striker! I suggest this not only because he can head the ball in a god-like manner but also for his pure athleticism. I can foresee him chasing the defenders down from the front most as well. And he would provide an ideal running target for our forwards to pass to.
My first blog and my 2-cents worth of opinion. Hope you like it and please feel free to comment!

Fund
This is the long waited post about Team Goat's Funds.
Alright to start off, here is the amount collected for the 1st month which is $42 this amount is still not enough to cover the amount we spent before the season but no worries because as time goes by the money will slowly become positive. Here is the list that we have spend on...
2 adidas soccer balls : $45.80 (22.90 each)
Trophies: $12 + $12 + $14 = $38
Water: $8.90 per 24bottles
without counting the water in for the 1st month, we are still on a -$17.20 which is not really a big amount. So here you go this is what team goat is spending on currently. And please be aware it is a new month and we'll start collecting the new fund this coming game. =)

Clash of the CHAMPIONS
This weekend will see the 1st ever clash of both champions Zespol FC and Team Goat at East View Secondary School. I won't really say that both teams start off great this season as Zespol scored only 7pts in 5games and the latter 1 solitary point in 3 games.
With a win this week, it may propel us to 6th position which will be a great jump as now the table is still tight and congested. This week's attendance is still hanging at the balance as some of the players will be away due to festive seasons and holidays.
What i'm hoping is still to have a good and constant team and i hope guys will put in more effort in turning up for games to help me out here. To illustrate the point, we always have to shift around our midfielders which is a bad news for any teams. Midfield is the Generator, the soul or anything u call it. They are the main part of the body and having a good constant midfield will definitely help the team out. (no offence to any midfielders involved its just an example) So, what i do hope is that our team can regularly field in a starting 11 that everyone is familiar with... alrite?
Players listing will be updated tomorrow night before the game. (seriously, i wander how many team goat members still even read the blog, the counter keep jumping but i dont know who is reading. GOOD OR BAD?)

Will Team Goat's depth be tested this weekend ?
Without a no. of our senior players this weekend, Team Goat's depth might be tested against last season's runners-up VNPNUS at Siglap Secondary. Without the likes of Jeffrey and Laphang for this weekend due to SAF's duties they will join the pair of kenny and Jack who is also away preparing for exams and away in exchange programme respectively. This will see the team being narrowed down to 16 senior players this coming weekend. And keeping this in mind, the no of 16 is the maximum turn out the team could get.
Last week saw Team Goat finally putting a solitary point up to the on going 2nd season in our venture at D2D. Yiwen, has added this while i was talking to him before me blogging this, " To think about it our team is one of those who had little rest if u look at the table. The rest of the team have a month or 2 rest while we just continued on after we finished our previous season." The other team who he mentioned about is Thunderveluboomqiesi which has performed pretty well this season with 2 win in 2 games which placed them in the hunt for this season's title race.
On another note, while i was writing this match preview i saw this on soccernet and finds that it's somewhat pretty true and sure enough we could pull this off as well...
"When I was at Chelsea, Alex [Ferguson] described that season as the best season ever - but even then they did not start so well,'' Grant said.
"You don't need to be at your best in the first few months, but at the end of the season.
"Alex is very clever. He does it every year. I can't remember one season when United started with full power.''
This is what Avram Grant has said before his match against the red devils tonight. Here is the link to the full preview ( http://soccernet.espn.go.com/preview?id=309506&cc=4716 )
So, we may not start off pretty well this season but we definitely can bring back the previous Team Goat which was champion last season! Many of us could start to feel a down in form and feeling rusty having played too many games, i suggest we should really relax and enjoy some soccer out of the league. For example, since we have Safra sessions during weekdays i would encourage all of you who are able to make it to go for that. A social kick-about is always good to get the pressure out of us!
So till then here are the information for this upcoming game...
Opp: VNPNUS (Previous Runner-up in Div 1)
Time: 3pm
Attire: Red
Venue: Siglap Secondary School
(http://maps.google.com.sg/maps?hl=en&expIds=17259,26442,27744&xhr=t&cp=7&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=siglap+secondary+school&fb=1&gl=sg&hq=siglap+secondary+school&hnear=Singapore&cid=0,0,4783467802873837172&ei=9vr0TPrYD8yHrAe4m-TzBg&sa=X&oi=local_result&ct=image&resnum=2&sqi=2&ved=0CCAQnwIwAQ)
Last time i was there it was a sandy affair, but it was a few years back, lets hope that they have re-grass the venue!
Lastly, i have decided to add a few more awards to the team,
(1) Man of the Match
(2) Player of the Month
Man of the match will be based on the performance you played that weekend. Everyone in the team will have a chance to be here if u performed well that day and i will personally write a review on your performance to why u got the title! So put it your best and you will find your name on the right side of the blog
Player of the month will be a little more tricky. To be player of the month, you have to have a good attendance when it comes to our match if we have 4 the least amount of games you have to come would be 3 and if we were to have 3 games than the least amount of games you have to come would be 2 and it goes on.... The player will be voted by our committee of 5 members and will be announced and updated during our 1st game of the month! We have the resulted for November Player of the month! Let's wait till sat to find out who he is!
(PS) due to lack of fund in Team Goat you don't really get anything now when u win the award, just a name actually. We will see how it goes as the Team Fund starts to grow abit more we might buy something to keep it interesting!

The Solitary Point
The game that we should had won!
We battled hard in the 1st half which ended in a stalemate and after the half-time break the team marched back into the field determined to score and put 3 points in the bag. And Yes! we did fight (3 yellow cards!) and we eventually got our goal thanks to an individual effort from WeeKiong but luck wasn't on our side as the opp equalized in the dying moments of the game with an own goal by kahwoon. (It was not his fault and none was blaming him for his own goal which led the team to a draw. He had to head the ball if not the opp behind him will finish it away as well.)
Today was also a day where we were shown how heroes can be villains as well.or Villains redeeming himself haha!
1) Kahwoon with a header assisted Weekiong in scoring his goal but unfortunately scored an owngoal in the dying moments with his head again!
2) WeeKiong missed a penalty at the start of the 2nd half but eventually managed to redeem himself after scoring the wonderful goal.
Personally, i felt that today's game was ours to be won. We controlled the game, played well, have many decent chances, like the one which fell to Yiwen during the 1st half. We were just unable to win it. Yes we can blame it on the ref for being biased or luck wasn't on our side. But i'm still going to give credit to Tour d'France as they are really well-organised team in the middle of the park trying to break our play whenever we try to flow through the middle.
Also i would like to thanks everyone who came down for the game, as i would like to mention this again, we are an amateur team all of you guys who are playing football for Team Goat is not being pay and instead you are paying us to let you play! haha! so i really appreciate the effort that you guys are making week in week our for the team and being part of the committee, i will try my best to talk to the captain and manager to have more playing time for you guys who don't get a lot of minutes on the field and try to come out with more kick-about or outing together as a team alright? Thanks Guys!
Player of the match:
And the honor for our 1st player of the match goes to our vice-captain JinChuen! Many have performed considerably well today which includes kahwoon and Weekiong but the Captain and I have felt that JinChuen was influential today! The Gareth Bale of Team Goat? We never thought that JinChuen was that good being on left back or left wing than being in the centre of defence where he usually played. Today due to Ariel's absence he was given a chance to play there for the team. His runs to overlap Manfred on the left wing and dribbling pass opp definitely was the highlight of his performance yesterday. Not to forget it was his runs that forces the opp to foul him in the box to earn our penalty. So here it is, congrats to JinChuen for being our 1st Team Goat Player of the Match!
Updates for the next game will be posted up shortly when we have news from the website. Meanwhile do stick around the blog and definitely i will try to post videos or interesting things up to freshen up the blog!

Manfred as top goalscorer?
"How? I top goalscorer leh hahahaha." This is normally the joke Manfred will share to you whenever you pass by him esp if you are a striker in Team Goat. His performance for Team Goat this season has been quite brilliant i should say having scored the only 2 goals Team Goat ever did and how could we forget he score within the 1st 10s when the fat lady blew off in the match against Thunderveluboomqiesi.
But being the TOP GOALSCORER in Team Goat isn't an easy task as he will be competing with our 2 well-known attacking forwards in the team, Yiwen and Wee Kiong both player of the season and young player of the season respectively! Yiwen was also last season top goalscorer for the team with 11 goals and this my friend is no easy feat.
Thus, with all 3 players starting upfront this Saturday for Team Goat will the top goalscorer chart start to move and shift? No matter how it goes, it will definitely be beneficial to the team when it does!
Team Goat will also be expecting a large group of players to be at the venue this Saturday for the game at
Bedok Green Secondary. And the president, Jeff hopes that everyone in the team to be patient and also be understanding with the committee's decision on the amount of playing time given to each players. "If there is a need to chase the game, some of the players cant really play too much and i really hope they understand that." add by Jeff during the interview.
So to wrap this up, here are the players expected to be out there battling for Team Goat's first win of the season.
Goalkeeper: Jeff
Defenders: Norman, JinChuen, Omar, Benny, KengYang
Midfield: Jackson (CAP), Thaddeus, Laphang, WeiMing
Forwards: Yiwen, Manfred, Kiong, ZhuLiang, BoonWee
Utility (DOG): KahWoon (HAHAHA!!)
Youths: Sean, Kahled

Guys, Please be informed that the Opp have once again be changed by the organizer apparently Star CF could not make it to this week's game and our opp have been changed to Tour d'France (updated on 25th Nov 7pm). Yes this is the team that we have played against for our 1st match which we lost 2-1. Both me and yiwen thought its true and felt that we are able to win this so we give the go ahead and didnt ask the organizer about it. But if there is any changes i will let u guys know again. So for now its Tour d'France. Venue and attire is still the same.

Rain rain go away! Team Goat is here to play
Another footy-less weekend befall on Team Goat last weekend as the match between VNPNUS was postponed due to bad weather. Though the rain has stopped, but the organiser has already phoned us in the earlier part of the day to postpone the game.
Due to the footy-less weekend, Team Goat is still pointless on the table and looking rather sluggish as when will the win come as week by week went pass. This weekend even if a bad rain fall would to befall us again, we would most likely will still get the go ahead for the game as we will be playing at Bedok Green Secondary School (Small Artifical Pitch) against the likes of STAR CF (mostly contain malay players and finish off 5th in division 1 last season)
This coming week, hopefully we will welcome back all our star-studded line-up back to the team to play for us. So this week should and would be the time where we will show what is Team Goat all about! So here we go the information for this weekend league:
Opp: Star CF (http://www.footballopod.com/ViewTeam.aspx?id=453&mode=v)
K.O: 3pm (Standard be there 2.40!)
Attire: RED
Venue: Bedok Green Secondary School

Opp Change
Guys,
Please take note that the opp for this sat is VNPNUS (change without telling us! heng we visit the website!), but the venue remain the same it still at Bedok View Secondary.VNPNUS have a very good reputation in this league and they have always performed at top levels. If i'm not wrong they are runner ups for both 2 seasons in Division One. They are famous for their physical game play in midfield so please take note of that during Saturday! anyway Saturday attendance is confirm, team sheet is as follows...
Goalkeeper: Jeff
Defence: Omar, Norman, JinChuen, Jeffrey, Ariel
Midfield: Benny, Jackson, Laphang, Kengyang, BoonWee
Forwards: Yiwen, Manfred, Kiong, ZhuLiang
Youth: Sean, Amran, Khalid.
This is our 3rd game in the league and it is essential for us to put some points on to the board. I know there would be pressure for us but we would need to win this game badly to kick start our season. As it continue to drag on the pressure will be on us even more.
This is what Footopod have to say:
OPOD News Center – Having conceded 6 goals in two games, Team Goat is determined to put behind their disastrous run of 2 defeats and claim their first win by overcoming the likes of VNPNUS in Division 1 this weekend. Similarly, VNPNUS is eyeing for their first win as they are keen to end their winless streak of 2 games.
Lets Win THIS!

OPOD News Center – Thunderveluboomqiesi began their season in a positive note as they trounced Team Goat 4-1 in their league opener in Division 1. With a healthy goal difference record, the former jumped to second position while the latter is languishing in the bottom half of the table having suffered two consecutive defeats.
This is the 1st time Team Goat is being written this way! Being trounced is not how we roll! lets get back to ourselves and let them write, Team Goat missile their way up to the top half of the table with a wacking of 10 goals to ....... ! We can do it guys!

Eating the humble pie.
Today was game 2 and still we could not deliver the result that we always do in our previous season. A 4-1 lost to the thunder team wasn't what we were thinking when we arrive at the venue. The memory of the 3-1 scoreline came to us and we were still in disbelief with what has happened to the team today.
I believe Thunder team was so determine to win this game that they eventually threw everything at us and i really mean everything. By bringing a squad of 22 players to the game i can really say they are so determine not to throw this one away. On a positive note, i'm really honored that they treat us with so much respect.
Looking forward, i'm still determine we can still do well in Division 1 as this is still the beginning of the season we still have 12 games to go. So what if we have lost our 1st 2 games, others will soon drop points as well and we will go riding up the table when they do! Guys keeps your heads up and we shall be better when our 3rd game come alright!
Adding on, there is a high chance that we will postpone the game next week but rest assured there will definitely be a kick about if the game is postponed. Hope that many of the players will be able to make it than as well!

Still league match 2...
Looking at the table (go to helpful link and click season 4) we are in such a bad position with 1st place already 9 points and we are like 0!!! but well we only played 1 and its ok eventually the better team will be the one who shall be crowned Champions! so Saturday is coming again and here are the details of the upcoming match just in case u guys forgot or have deleted the sms!
League Match 2
Opp: Zespol FC (Previous Div 1 champion)
Time: 3pm! (Lets reach 2.45 ok? Tyvm)
Venue: Bedok North Sec (come on we been there done that there!)
Link: http://maps.google.com.sg/maps?hl=en&biw=1024&bih=578&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=bedok+north+secondary+school&fb=1&gl=sg&hq=bedok+north+secondary+school&hnear=bedok+north+secondary+school&cid=0,0,3939729593157562070&ei=VsrGTNiXLsG3cbTe2KAO&sa=X&oi=local_result&ct=image&resnum=2&ved=0CBwQnwIwAQ
Attire: Red! (manfred wear our jersey! LOL!)
So we know that they are champions of division 1 last season and we also know that they won 1 and lost 1. Recent was a 4-0 thumping by tour dFrance, though they lost but they were champion previously for a season so do not underestimate them! We know what we can deliver and we will show it to them this saturday! Lets get back up to the table where we belong!
Dont worry if we have enough no. for the game! rest assured we have learnt our lesson to bring enough players to a game! Details of people who are coming will not be listed on blog if you have any queries who is coming u can ask me! thanks!

Won 3-1.... NOT!!!!!!
Team Goat went into this game with strong determination to put their past results behind them! With a lost last week to Tour Dfrance, we were stronger than ever by welcoming back Yiwen (player of the season) back to the team!
True enough he started the scoring and and with Manfred's excellent free-kicking skills 2 more goals got in with 1 tap in by kahwoon as the opp goalkeeper parried (is there this word? haha) the ball. But sad to say the rain started to fall heavily to the pitch and the match was cancelled. 3-1 was the scoreline and many of us felt that this could be the game which could mark the start of the season!
But it's alright guys the next game will be a better one! We will still win all of our games as we are the very best in the league and we know it right? Lets push harder everyone and lets put in your 100% to the team and make it the very best!
Thanks for those who have came,
Jeff

A start worth thinking about...
A disapointing start to a brand new season where we lost 2-1 to tour dfrance. Got to say we have the chance to draw the game or even win the game during the 2nd half but we just could not convert the the chances to goals.
Thanks for everyone who came down to the game today but at the same time i would like to point out something and i hope everyone would understand where i'm coming from. When you are in the list of players in Team Goat. You are part of Team Goat, i hope everyone would try to show more commitment to the team. Both yesterday and today i received many sms on people who are not able to make it to the game, i understood each ones circustamances well but what i hope u guys can do better is being more responsible and sms early. For example, if u think u have a chance u can't make it to the game let me know about it latest on thursday so that we can follow up on the formation yea? Thanks i hope u guys can help in this! Those who sms-ed me pls dont be offened i just want to let the team know and those who came down even if u cannot make it in time i appreciate the effort! Thanks Ariel and Kahwoon!
Although, we lost today's game i felt that i have learnt much more about the team and how we can build on it. I'm sure the committee will look into the game again and improve from there! Remember last season we also lost our 1st game but we still get the title! We can do it again! Heads up guys!
Players Present today.

Before the start of a new Season...
Guys,
Before the season starts I hope to bring up a few points to the team so that we can work to greater heights this season and bring back more trophies for TEAM GOAT!
1) We have been in party mood for the past 1-2 weeks and its time now that we should be re-group and focus on our upcoming task ahead, Division 1 Title!!! We are starting our new league this Saturday and I do not think there are easy opponents in football. The ball is round, I believed many in the team have heard of this term, anything can happen in football and I hope you guys will be able to focus on the upcoming game this sat and let’s not get complacent in our games! We shall celebrate when we lift the trophy again!
2) Blog!! With this new blog I hope everyone would constantly take some time to visit this site whenever u are free or when you are scouring through websites and pasting time. Come on in to the blog to read about latest happenings if not write a comment on the ‘Chatbox’ to keep it lively!
Now with the blog I hope you guys will come to the blog and check for the latest game info and tell Yiwen who is able to make it and not make it latest by Tuesday Night in order to facilitate us to plan for the upcoming game. The information for the game will be updated by Yiwen latest on Tuesday morning.

I hope you guys will be able to help out as sms is quite expensive if u send to 23 people and the sms is not a short one! So just drop him a sms saying, ‘I will be coming!’ Or ‘I will not be coming’ by latest Tuesday 2359!. So please help us out on this one! Thanks
3) Team Goat is an up and rising team and new blood is constantly being pumped into the team. At the start we only have 15 players? But after recruitment and recruitment during the past years (mainly this last season) I’m proud to say we have a good strong team of up to 23players and a few more will come in during the season start.
The issue I would like to point out is that during some of the games we will expect to have a huge turnout (18-20 players?). During these games some of you guys will not be able to play as much as expected and I hope for you guys to understand why you were not being field in. Priority for the team is for us to get result and it is important as we are in a competitive league and I believe everyone would hope that we get the result that we wanted so sometimes we (the committee) would make decision that go against you and I hope that you will be able to understand as we are going for the good of the team.
4) Stats sheet, a stats sheet will be up on the blog once the season have started. Attendance and goals will be placed up to help the committee keep record of the team. If possible, Assists and man of the match will also be added!
5) New policy. After discussing with the committee, we would like to have a TEAM GOAT FUND set up to help with some of the expenses. For example, new soccer balls (we just bought additional 2), water during games and even for gatherings! The contribution is small and I hope you guys will be able to contribute; it’s just $2/month. (PLEASE TAKE NOTE THIS $2 DOES NOT INVOLVE GAMES MONEY). I hope you guys understand why we are doing this and I will bring it up again this coming Saturday, if you have any questions u can bring it up to me as well. Thanks
These are the few points I would like you guys to take note of before the start of the season. Right now, everything starts from ZERO, we have not achieved anything yet. As we are the Champions of division 2 in our previous season, definitely there will be pressured for us to perform and to deliever results no matter from us or from others. We can use this pressure to our advantage, lets make use of this pressure to be a form of motivation for us to achieve even better results in all of our upcoming games!
Everything aside, i hope that you guys will be able to enjoy this new season! lets win the Division 1 title and in 5months time we will have another celebration! A BIGGER ONE!
TEAM GOAT!!!
