As those of you who were present at the game could testify, it took me a long while to conjure up this headline - even at the expense of being substituted very early!
Anyway I think this headline pretty much sum-up the afternoon which turned out to be a joyous one even hours before a ball was kicked! Opponent walked over with 3 points in the bag and a friendly played-on astroturf on Christmas day. What else better could I have asked for from Santa!
Alright then, 1 Shepherd 2 socks 3 Santa and lots of brothers.
Wikipedia: Shepherd = goats' keeper
The topic of the game is no doubt his heroics (as I have promised!). In fact, he is certainly in contention for player of the match with our regular goalie's outfield performance today (but not for me personally, I definitely vote for a certain no.5).
2 socks. I am adamant that jeff only hang a pair of socks on his christmas tree at home. Otherwise he could have been "gifted" more goals. After I was subbed out, I realised the referee kept checking his mini-handphone as he received instructions from the real Santa to ensure jeff only scored 2 goals (he only hanged 2 socks so could only get 2 goals; fair enough). Those constant offsides were jokes to say the least.
Of course the real Santa couldn't make it this afternoon - the hot and humid weather this afternoon would surely suffocate him and his reindeer. That's why he hired 3 Santa helpers to accomplished the task.
Santa A - for some reason, our inspirational captained returned to the first-team and took over the goalkeeper role so as to send jeff out-field. (Also not forgetting to gift our opponent a soft soft goal =) )
Santa B - their centre-back was obviously following Santa's instruction and provided the chances for jeff to score! First create such a hold in the wall for the quick free-kick. Secondly, acting to clear the ball in the penalty box for jeff to toe-poke from close range! Even Johnny Evans did a greater job against Newcastle during the recent Carling Cup game! (Evans was so good at gifting goals that he was never suspected to be working for Santa!)
Santa C - our dear no.11 for all those missed chances. In my 12 years playing football with him, I had never seen him miss so many chances in the same game before! It was so dramatic, diving header flew all the way out of fence, meeting the cross with his shin and hurt himself by sitting on his ass while through on goal etc. Everyone could see that he did his best to ensure that jeff remains the top scorer for the game!
Well this is Christmas and it was great to see everyone making jeff happy (I was sure everyone did enjoy themselves thoroughly in the process! Or at least feel entertained after reading this article!). Anyway, it was exciting (and also quite confusing) to see so many brothers in our team: Weiming & bro, Jefferey & bro, and of course Yitwoon Kahwoon & youngest bro! It was great to see everyone had a great Christmas afternoon and Team Goat certainly feels like a big family now! You are all like my brothers!
Alright, that's all I have to say for now. Will try to write some constructive articles during the week (had some observations again from today's match!). For a complete match report, wait for jeff's article. To be honest, I can't remember the score. Was it 2-1 3-1 or 4-1? It doesn't matter since it is merely a friendly. Oh yeah, and if no one has told you yet jeff, the 2 goals that you have scored doesn't count towards the top-scorer chart! Try harder next Christmas jeff (and remember to put-up more socks next time dude!).
Have a great one mates! Merry X'mas to all!
